Week 8 - website 2

The article implies that digital is an event which changes things so fundamentally that there is absolutely no going back. This is a statement without fact and doesn’t allow any room for other opinion as it says ‘absolutely no going back’. The author is implying no chance, not a ‘possibility’ which might have been a more rounded view to make. Also he implies that adults are “are terrified of your own children, since they are natives in a world where you will always be immigrants” which is too general again to take in to account all adults.” It also implies that digital immigration/native is ‘’cut off from all adult influences’’ and ‘’it disempowers adults, encouraging them to feel helpless” which is a big assumption to make for every single adult in the world. The article is fairly up to date (2007) and does take into account a lot of points however it is written by an ‘older’ ‘adult’ (perhaps an immigrant!?) rather than a ‘younger’ person so could be biased towards the feelings of ‘adults’ and not have experienced the life of a ‘native’ properly.
